This ume (sour plum) udon salad appeared in the supermarket last week.

The kit included PINK udon (sour plum), dashi dressing, nori, sesame, this white, gooey potato stuff and a red umeboshi (pickled plum).

How cute are pink udon?

Ta daa
To be honest, I am not that big a fan of umeboshi because it is very, very, very SUPPAI (sour), I bought this for the pink noodles. However I’ve started to eat more umeboshi lately on the influence of my friend Charlotte. She eats it all the time. Also, my friend Nik told me his Japanese GF eats 10 umeboshi a day because they’re super duper healthy. Ume helps fatigue, fever, some more stuff and can cure hangovers. I think it must be uncommon for foreigners to like it coz whenever the high school students at our school hear that Charlotte loves it they all go ‘EHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH?????’ really loud. You can also eat umeboshi in onigiri (rice balls) or by itself as a very sour snack.
