After developing an addiction to the matcha lattes at Azuma patisserie and Starbucks, I started to think about making it myself. I bought a little tin of pure matcha powder from Citi Super, and loosely followed this recipe. I thought it would be more complicated, but it’s so easy!!!!!!!! I used powder, full cream milk and sugar, but next time I’ll add double cream, to make it more like a fancy cafe version. Also, I used barely a teaspoon of the powder, but next time I’ll use more for a richer flavour. The matcha powder cost $8, and has enough for many, many lattes.

That’s awesome! Well done on cracking the matcha-latte-making code. And how great is Citisuper? Hope your matcha-latte addiction can now go unabated.
Homemade matcha lattes are heavenly – which is why I find myself running to my favorite teashop when my can of matcha starts running empty! They’re so comforting for stressful days.
LTL, I’m glad you introduced me to it. I go there all the time now! So much better than Town Hall woolworths.
Midge, I’m so glad I realised how easy they are to make.
Looks delicious! You can also use a nice grade Matcha For Cooking, which is most likely more economical at around $14 for 4 ozs @ Three Tree Tea. They are indeed easy to make and you save lots by not going to the coffee shop!
FINALLY tried this, I never thought I could do it myself but wow. I’m in love. I’m with you on the cream front, will be giving it a little more oomph next time. Thanks for the inspiration! Eeeep, always loving your blog.
